This is the route we took (in green) during our weekend in Ireland
We flew from Heathrow to Cork, via Dublin.
There we collected two Vauxhall Corsa hire cars, had a look
around Cork, spent the afternoon at Blarney Castle and then went
down to a B&B in Kinsale for the Friday night. The next
morning we set off along the coast, up over the spectacular
Macgillycuddy's Reeks to a hotel in Killarney. On the Sunday, we
decided to take a quick run out to the Dingle Peninsular, which
in hindsight was a bit too ambitious. A combination of bad roads,
congested with miles of slow traffic stuck behind oversized
coaches meant that we spent all day driving and then had a mad
sprint across the A22 back to Cork just in time to catch our
flight back to Dublin. We were then delayed several hours at the
airport. All in all, however, it was a good weekend and we saw
lots of the great Irish countryside.
